An Evening With A “Winner of Winners”
On Sunday, the 6th of December, I will be interviewing one of my favourite authors EVER, Ms. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I’ve written that statement, and I know it’s happening but I still can’t believe it.
Ms. Adichie first won the Women’s prize for fiction (at the time it was known as the Orange prize), for her novel “Half of a yellow sun” in 2007. 13 years later, thousands of readers voted her the “Winner of Winners” from 25 years of the Women’s Prize for fiction winning books. I am deeply, unrepentantly biased when I say this but your girl is not surprised. I read her first book, “Purple Hibiscus” when I was 12 years old and have been an avid fan ever since. “Half of a Yellow Sun” was one of my first introductions to the Biafran War, as it is was not taught in schools, or remained a prominent part of the social consciousness of people outside of the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.
I am over the moon, and hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us. Get your tickets here and see you on Sunday!
